Veterans & First Responders Foundation Timeline:
History of Planning and Strategy Phase:
2021:

Dave Knott starts the nonprofit 501-C3 VFR organization with a vision to provide support for First Responders, Veterans, Military, K-9s, and their families. Began R&D on most appropriate and beneficial therapies and needs for the community.

Acquired 4.3 acres of property and buildings in Mentor, Ohio.
Q1-Q2 2023:

Established a new R&D division for the VFR program, finalized the design and layout, and created systems and processes.

Finalized construction costs for the THC and office renovation.

Commenced VFR marketing program to raise funds for renovations of the THC and office construction and for staffing the THC.

Initiated the vetting process for hiring an architectural firm and engineering firm.

Finalize pricing for the buildouts for the THC and office.

In June 2023, National Day Calendar granted the VFR the first Saturday in August to celebrate National VFR Day. Each year on the first Saturday in August, we celebrate by showing support for mental health services for our veteran and first responders.
2022:

Developed the master plan for the renovations of the office space and VFR’s Therapeutic Healing Center and assembled a scope of work.

Received preliminary architectural drawings and engineering plans for the renovations of the office space and THC.

Designed and architected the 2500 sq ft healing space with state-of-the-art technologies integrated into the design. This space will be the first of its type in the country with the ability to provide constant healing modifications with a non-medical, new, organic healing process.
Goals and Upcoming VFR Initiatives:
Q3 2023:

Raise remaining funds needed for the THC and office.

Golf outing – goal of the raise – 210k

Begin renovations and build outs of the remainder of the building at our first Therapeutic Healing Center.
Q4 2024:

VFR will begin servicing our first clients.
2026:

Hire an architectural firm and engineering firm.

Start the main campus master planning process, including the design and engineering of the buildings on the site.

Begin the city building department approval process and obtain necessary governmental approvals and permits for the VFR Campus project.

2026Commence construction with a shovel in the ground!

With full funding, the project is expected to take approximately 3 years to complete.
Q4 2023:

Begin build outs on the first therapy office at the Therapeutic Healing Center

Design programming for The Therapeutic Healing Center.

Begin finalizing programming for THC.

VFR’s first Therapeutic Healing Center will open!

By Q3 of 2025, we will be servicing over 1,000 Veterans and First Responders each month.

Complete the land acquisition for Homefront.

Doors will open to Homefront-VFR’s Therapeutic Healing Campus!
